Lloyd's Register give seal of approval to AMOT Bearing Condition Monitoring System
The AMOT XTS-W Bearing Condition Monitoring System has received Lloyd's Register Type Approval, ensuring product quality and suitability for marine applications. This gives added confidence to the system's unique effectiveness in detecting critical bearing wear before any damage can occur.
The Lloyds Register type approval is an essential part of wider adoption of the XTS-W bearing Condition Monitoring on slow speed main propulsion engines for real-time protection of all the crank bearings. It can avoid high cost consequential damage caused by bearing failures. Critically there is a high possibility that in the near future the requirement for 5-year open out inspections will be removed if an XTS-W system is installed.
The certification approves the system for use in the marine environment and also approves the manufacturing process.

Minerva installs AMOT XTS-W bearing condition monitoring system
An AMOT XTS-W bearing condition monitoring system has been acquired by Athens-based shipping company, Minerva Marine, for one of its 28-strong tanker fleet, the MT Minerva Virgo, The 28,960 ton ABS class vessel is powered by an MAN B&W 6S60MC-C engine and the contract was secured by AMOT's authorized Greek distributor Gnomon Marine.
It is understood that Minerva plans to upgrade the bearing protection on other ships within their fleet with the XTS-W system which uniquely detects wear of main, big end and crosshead bearings prior to steel-on-steel contact and before problems have developed. Proven to maximize revenues and reduce costs, it is now accepted by engine manufacturers and ship operators as the system for preventative maintenance of bearings in 2-stroke slow speed engines. The XTS-W continuously monitors all crank train bearings and thus avoids expensive unplanned repairs.
In the near future it is expected that engine manufacturers will remove the requirement for open out inspections of bearings when the XTS-W is installed

Venturie Press release during Posidonia
This year Gnomon Marine Ltd., was represented on the Posidonia exhibition with a number of its principals.
Since 2005, Gnomon and Venturie of Norway have cooperated to enter the Greek market of shipowners and charterers.
Venturie AS is the only company promising to keep crude and product tankers free of all hydrocarbon emissions in the loaded voyage. With backpressure loading, vapour growth is reduced by 30-50% in addition. For Saudi Arabian Vela, this means a saving of cargo worth 150.000 USD per voyage, which pays for the very simple installation in a few months. Now BP Shipping follows suit, with the outlook of fitting the entire fleet.

Posidonia 2006, the 20th edition of the world's most prestigious international shipping exhibition, will be held at a new and bigger venue this year.
The biennial event, which attracted over 1,600 Greek and international exhibitors in 2004, will be held this year at the Hellenikon Exhibition Centre (HEC), at the site of the former Athens Airport, from June 5 - 9 and is expected to be the biggest in the show's 37-year-long history.

Dimitris Douramakos was born in Hannover, Germany. He studied in AKTO, obtaining substantial supplies by his professor Nikos Navridis and Katerina Apostolidou.
He also has a Degree Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts & Technology of Middlesex University (Excellent).
He was selected to take part in the 11th Bienalle of young artists, in e-Fos festival, festival ROES, in River's Edge Film Festival-Paducah-Kentucky and International Video Art & Architecture festival "Temporary Cities" in Cultural Communication Centre of Klaipeda-Lithuania.

If such an (MBD approved) bearing wear monitoring system is employed, MAN B&W
Diesel recommend to omit unnecessary open-up inspections.
